Muhheconneok
‍ ‍The People of the Waters That are Never Still
Stacy Ann Davids is a member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians.
Her short story, Sleeping, Not Gone, is forthcoming in New England Review.
She is at work on Water Through Drums, a hybrid novel of prose, poetry, and documentary lyric that spans four centuries of Muhheconneok history—from the river her people are named for, to the Stockbridge-Munsee reservation in Wisconsin.
Her writing follows currents and rhythms through which culture flows, across landscapes and generations.
Wisconsin-born, she is a lifelong Midwesterner.
